About the Role

We are looking for a high-impact Senior Node.js Developer with deep expertise in Strapi CMS (specifically v5) to lead and scale our headless multi-tenant backend architecture. We provide advanced CMS solutions to iGaming platforms, enabling them to seamlessly manage complex digital assets, game configurations, and live-ops content across multiple platforms.

In this role, you will design robust API systems, build complex custom Strapi plugins, and ensure our content architecture is secure, scalable, and optimized for high-traffic gaming environments. Our architecture utilizes a Java-based Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) middleware, meaning you will collaborate closely with Java engineers to ensure Strapi seamlessly feeds real-time configuration and asset data into this intermediary layer. Additionally, you will leverage React.js to extend and customize the native Strapi Admin UI to create tailored workflows for our iGaming content managers.

Key Responsibilities

• iGaming Content Architecture: Design and model complex content structures within Strapi v5 to manage dynamic game configurations, multi-language localization, and seasonal event data.

• Asset & Configuration Management: Implement efficient workflows for cross-platform asset distribution and build scalable content endpoints to power real-time in-game features.

• BFF Integration: Build, optimize, and securely expose RESTful and GraphQL APIs specifically designed to be consumed by our Java-based Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) middleware application.

• Admin UI Customization: Utilize React.js to customize and extend the Strapi Admin Panel, developing custom configuration fields, internal widgets, and specialized dashboard components for game operators.

• Custom Extensibility: Develop custom Strapi plugins, services, controllers, middlewares, and lifecycle hooks to support complex business logic specific to iGaming compliance and operations.

• Performance & Scalability: Implement caching strategies, CDN integrations, and query optimization to handle high-traffic workloads and traffic surges passing through the BFF.

• Security & Access Control: Implement robust authentication, granular Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for different content operator roles, and stringent data validation.

• DevOps & Mentorship: Containerize applications with Docker, participate in CI/CD pipeline management (maintaining long-lived Dev, Test, and Staging branches), conduct code reviews, and mentor junior-to-mid level developers.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with Node.js and modern JavaScript / TypeScript.

• 2–3+ years of hands-on production experience architecting and deploying Strapi CMS (with specific knowledge of v5).

• Strong proficiency in React, specifically applied to customizing, overriding, and extending the Strapi Admin Panel UI.

• Experience integrating Node.js/Strapi services with middleware layers, particularly Java-based BFF architectures.

• Proven ability to model complex, hierarchical data structures (e.g., game states, player attributes, localized assets).

• Strong proficiency in designing and exposing secure RESTful APIs.

• Solid database experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query optimization.

• Strong working knowledge of Docker, containerization, and modern CI/CD practices.

• Proven track record with version control (Git), branching workflows, and structured code reviews.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Background in the iGaming, sports betting, or broader video game industry.

• Experience configuring application performance monitoring and observability infrastructure (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus) for high-availability systems.

• Experience with real-time data synchronization and caching layers like Redis.

• Hands-on knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS ECS/Fargate, Azure pods, S3) and CDN optimization for game assets.

• Experience configuring enterprise authentication (OAuth, SAML, Okta).
