About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer who can take ownership of complex backend components within our iGaming CMS and platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing enterprise Java applications, designing scalable REST APIs, integrating Strapi CMS with backend services, and building reliable integrations with third-party gaming, content, identity, analytics, and platform providers.

You will work closely with Technical Leads, Architects, Product Managers, QA Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and REST APIs using Java 18–25, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.

• Design and develop backend services supporting iGaming platforms, CMS, gaming content, configuration, and player-facing applications.

• Develop and integrate Strapi CMS with Java/Spring Boot backend services and frontend applications.

• Design APIs and integration layers for managing games, providers, categories, content, promotions, configurations, localization, and other CMS-driven data.

• Build robust integrations with third-party gaming providers, aggregators, identity providers, analytics platforms, notification services, and external APIs.

• Design clean, maintainable solutions using SOLID principles, design patterns, domain-driven design, and modern architectural practices.

• Develop scalable data solutions using PostgreSQL, MySQL, Hibernate/JPA, and Redis.

• Build event-driven and asynchronous processing using Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ where appropriate.

• Design secure REST APIs using JWT, authentication, authorization, OAuth 2.0/2.1, API security, and secure service-to-service communication.

• Implement secure integration mechanisms including API keys, tokens, signatures, encryption, hashing, and secure credential handling.

• Apply OWASP principles and secure software-development practices across applications and integrations.

• Develop comprehensive unit, functional, and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, and appropriate testing frameworks.

• Own Maven/Gradle multi-module builds, dependency management, wrappers, artifact management, and Nexus publishing.

• Contribute to CI/CD automation, Docker/containerization, and cloud deployments.

• Design resilient third-party integrations with appropriate timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, error handling, logging, monitoring, and fallback mechanisms.

• Investigate complex production issues and perform cross-service root-cause analysis.

• Lead refactoring, performance optimization, scalability, and reliability improvements.

• Review API contracts and integration specifications with internal and external technology teams.

• Conduct technical feasibility studies and evaluate technologies for new iGaming and CMS capabilities.

• Conduct code reviews and establish development best practices.

• Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.

• Collaborate with Technical Leads, Architects, Product Managers, QA Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and Business Stakeholders.

• Evaluate AI-assisted development, automation, and developer productivity tools to improve engineering efficiency.

• Support the evolution of the iGaming platform toward a modular, scalable, highly available, and integration-friendly architecture.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

• 4–8 years of professional Java development experience, with strong experience in enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.

• Experience working in iGaming, online gaming, sportsbook, casino, or entertainment platforms (highly desirable).

• Strong experience designing and implementing REST APIs, backend services, and API documentation using OpenAPI/Swagger.

• Hands-on experience with CMS platforms (including Strapi CMS: content types, components, relations, roles/permissions, webhooks, custom integrations) and CMS-driven or headless architectures.

• Experience integrating backend systems with third-party gaming providers, external platform APIs, and designing provider-independent integration layers or adapter architectures.

• Understanding of game catalogs, game providers, categories, jurisdictions, localization, promotions, configuration, and content management.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, databases, messaging, caching, integration patterns, and secure API development/authentication.

• Experience with observability tools, distributed tracing, centralized logging, and application monitoring.

• Strong problem-solving and production troubleshooting skills in Agile/Scrum/Kanban environments.

• Experience mentoring developers and driving technical improvements.
